Acupuncture

Putting Patients First

Acupuncture is a catalyst for healing the body. Embracing Daoism principles, this very ancient system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been in practice for more than 2000 years. Acupuncture practitioners insert extremely fine, disposable needles with rounded tips just below the surface of the skin. This stimulates Qi, the body's cyclic energy flow. By balancing and redirecting Qi, an acupuncture practitioner encourages the body's nature capacity for self-healing. In turn, this improves the way the body functions.

Cupping

Customized and Comprehensive

Cupping is a technique in which a glass cup or bamboo jar is suctioned onto the body and allowed to sit for about 10 minutes. Cupping stimulates the flow of blood, lymph, and Qi to the affected area; relieves swelling; and greatly enhances an acupuncture or electroacupuncture treatment. Its uses include relieving muscle pain, especially back pain from stiffness or injury; and clearing congestion in the chest, which can occur with common colds and influenza.

Moxibution

The Support You Need

The moxibution is primarily used to treat a deficiency of 'yang' energy in the body. It is yang energy that governs movement and warmth, and a deficiency of yang results in cold symptoms. The patient may feel cold, or may complain of cold hands and feet. For patients who are very weak and deficient, stick moxa is chosen as a primary treatment due to the fact that it actually adds "yang qi" to the body. Yang qi deficiency can also manifest in incontinence or loose stools, although these symptoms must be carefully differentiated by the practitioner as they may have other causes.
